Titanium...here I come.
So I went to look at some bikes today. This guy has about 10 bikes, all my size, and was willing to show them to me, tell me he back story on them all and possibly sell some.
He had a Jack Taylor with a curved seat tube in AMAZING condition, an old Bob Jackson that had been repainted by Cycle Art, an old Rossin that he purchased in Rome and brought back, a Dave Moulton with Campy 50th Anniversary on it WOW!!! As well as unridden and unbuilt Bob Jackson frame, a Bob Jackson with “investment cast” 3-D lugs and a straight fork, and the one that I decided to buy...

I thought real hard about the Bob Jackson frame, and the Straight forked Bob Jackson...but in the end, this one checks more different boxes for me.
A - Titanium
B - Triple chainring
C - Measurments fit me better.
I don’t have it yet as he is going to hold it for me to finish coming up with the $$.
What do you guys think?

Yeah, I guess they make a 135bcd triplizer? First one I've seen.
The straight blade one? Looks twitchy just sitting there. I'd love to try it out. They're all my size, too .

Oh, wow! I probably can't afford it either but its nice to see that someone just down the road has such a fine collection. I do most of my riding into or through Visalia and often get rather bummed at the lack of C&V stuff around. Hell, I'd just like to meet the fellow and toy with the idea of a purchase, if he doesn't mind meetin someone who probably can't buy promptly.

My head was turned around for good riding a Merlin MTB 1/2 mile down a dirt drive and sprinting back up. Almost 30 years ago. It took 20 years to be in a situation where I could justify a custom ti bike. (Any stock bike would be an expensive "class B" fit) By that time, Merlin, the company, had changed a lot plus I was a regular customer of TiCycles in Portland (for custom stems) so a TiCycles custom ti was a no-brainer. 10 years later I do not regret the move at all.
This bike may not check all the boxes as a race bike, but as a ride? You'll love it! (Best kept secret out there - good steel forks on ti bikes work really well. The stiffer metal on the long unsupported fork blades match the ti response to road irregularities very nicely. Steel, like ti, does not dampen the road vibrations, but done right, the combo works. I have two steel forked ti bikes.) So if you ever get bored, consider having a sweet steel fork made. Plus, a good steel fork is like a good ti bike, a lifetime keeper.
