The Most Beautiful Bicycle in the History of the World...
...or not. Depending on your taste.
Anyway, I just took delivery on this early 80s Pinarello and I'm looking for ideas on how to properly dress it. My first thought: Brooks honey Team Pro saddle and matching bar tape. Swap out the Look pedals for platforms, clips and straps.
What would you do? Any and all suggestions welcome.

It IS pretty. Do the saddle and bar tape. I don't think it needs anything else, except perhaps new tires.

that IS a hot bike. i agree that a brooks and matching bar tape will make it sexier. i know many others will also agree with clips/straps... it would make it look more original, but i don't like them myself, i really enjoy clipless, but that's just me.
is that the original seatpost? it looks kinda like a cheapo kalloy i have. anyway, if it's a cheap one, get a nice one. other than that i wouldn't change a thing!
p.s. that fork is the hottest part of that bike, imho

I'd swap the seatpost out, something more time approp.
maybe an old polished campy one? theyre nice.
I also dont like the stem, but thats me.
whatever you do I'd say keep it period and classic.

I can't imagine a gold bike much prettier than this. But if yours is, then it must be very pretty indeed. And I don't even like gold.
I promise to visit the velodrome often enough to keep the bike's soul intact.
And I'm not sure if the post is original or not. It - like many of the components on the bike - is an older Gipiemme part that looks nearly new. I don't think the bike's been ridden much.
And yes, it very much needs new tires.

a more classic deep drop would look great, I'd say go cinelli criterium's, and I'd get a vintage campy seat post (not the aero only because it's showing up everywhere and that bike deserves a classic understated look). brooks sounds great swallow may be the ticket if the team pro looks too chunky on the 1" tubes. keep the tubbies with gum walls! thats a beauty! I hope my Raleigh Pro turns out that good someday. its down to frame BB and headset and hanging on the wall right now This was taken the day I scored it it was frankenstein at the time.

Why would you put a brooks on that bike?
It probably came with a pantographed concor or turbo, so put one of those on it. The brooks will look out of place.
Catalogue page for '85 pista

While my eyes and my brain agree with the idea of a more authentic track saddle - and will look into something along those lines - my ass pretty much insists on a Brooks.

Haven't adjusted anything yet. Just pulled it out of the box, tightened it back up with my fingers and took a picture.

nice bike. voting no on brooks and leather bar tape.
i think:
deeper drops (not nitto 123's though, maybe cinelli if they'll fit)
clips & straps
nicer seatpost

Strictly to make it prettier I would source out a matching vintage fork with no drilling for brakes.

The drilled fork was stock on the Amatore, I think. But I'll take undrilled under consideration, too.

I like the black bartape. I always thought leather bar tape looked bad.
To me a brooks would look out of place on that bike. A Concor or Turbo or even a Flite would look good on there. But saddles aren't really about looks, but what doesn't hurt your taint, so go from there.
