San Jose police are looking for man in a passenger vehicle who shot a bicyclist in east San Jose Saturday evening.

There were few details available soon after the shooting.

Police said they were called at 8:47 p.m. to the area of Remington Way and Quimby Road where they found the victim.

The victim was in surgery late Saturday evening in critical condition. Police said he placed an emergency call saying he had been shot. If he dies, it will be the city's 23rd homicide. Last year there were 36 homicide victims - a 10-year high.

I hope the cyclist pulls through.
In east San Jose you can easily substitute "driver" or "pedestrian" for cyclist.

I'd like to see some more information before I label this guy a "cyclist". Most people I know, aren't the type to be riding around east side at 830 at night.

most cyclists wouldn't be riding around east side at night... don't want to make assumptions but basing off of the neighborhood, it probably was not a random drive-by cyclist hater.

Sinister though it may seem, I hope the shooter knew the victim just because I don't want it to have been a random act. I have wanted to do some riding on the main roads of the East Side.. I've ridden a loop including Capitol, Tully and White without incident. Hopefully again as well.

98% of what happens on the East Side is intentional. The shooters probably knew the victim which is why the story got almost 3 paragraphs. If this was an innocent or an unexplained, it would have been splashed all over the the news because in that kind of case the police would need some help with the "who dun it".

Wow I already wear a helmet,gloves,leg pads and now my leval3A! I sure hope they catch the person who pulled the trigger.
