Found a craigslist mid 80's Nishiki Colorado for parts

Time for some paint thinner

This should shine up without too much elbow grease.

Primer and a let the sun do the rest.

Looking good.

Need a green crossbar pad now.

Wheel time!

These should look good with the lighter color hoops

Black graphics, black spokes

Hand cut the spokes with a nice Phil Wood machine...

Spoke dust

I did the initial calculations using a digital caliper and plugging them into one of several online calculators. I got the front measurements correct, but fubared the rear. Still don't know how I was off after double and triple checking. LBS had the spoke cutting machine;-)

I have another build I want to get started on once this one is complete (MTB drop bar SS conversion of mid 80's Nishiki Westwood). I will revisit the online calculator(s) again and do some more reading on wheel building.

Don't know whether you tried the calculator ebikesca, but I've never heard of anyone having problems after using it (but my LBS always gives me the sizes to use and I order spokes from them).

Rear wheel tricks for fun ;-)
The rear is complete! Radial and four cross for fun...

I am sure someone from the group of "cruiser" folks I ride with will notice this. DS is radial laced and strong four cross on the ND.

I've just become a fan of the Vittoria brand this year. Reasonable cost, weight and performance.

Fw

Entertaining the crazy thought of going tubeless for fun. The MTB folks around here use orange seal vs. Stans. I guess I'll get some gorilla tape later today.
