And the movie script said: "an actor like sean connery". And then they cast him in that role

Rest in peace 007

I'll bet Dr. No never thought he'd live to 90. Goldfinger sure tried; or maybe it was the producers. I would have died of embarrassment in this:

I would have been sagging out of course...

The Untouchables and The Man Who Would be King FTW. He was more than just 007.

Sho long, Double O Sheven.
As others said, he was the best Bond. And I loved The Man Who Would Be King, Hunt For Red October and others, including The Anderson Tapes. He also seemed happy to accept lesser roles in big movies with huge casts, and was unmistakable even in the smallest role.
90 is a good long life, but I'm sorry to hear he suffered with dementia the past decade. Been through that with my mom. It's hard to watch for loved ones. For the most part my dad and grandparents were spared that particular problem.

On TCM's suggestion, I finally sat through Marnie over the last two days. I've seen pretty much everything else Hitch has made since 1935's The 39 Steps. But I think he could have cut this down a bit. Or, a lot. Glad I finally saw it. And glad I never have to see it again.
