Finally a dry day - I was going somewhat stir-crazy. A good, solid 40 mile out/back to Issaquah. Lots of blowdown remnants on the trail from last night's big winds.

The honor of the first ride of the year goes to the Medici:



This small helicopter flew in, dropped somebody off at their house, and flew off while I was standing by the trail taking the photo above. So I took a pic of it as it flew away:



When I got back to Bothell I rode by the site of the new Bothell Bridge; workers finally began putting up the railings a couple days ago. Talked to one of the workers and he told me the bridge will be opened to the public at the end of January. The railings will be done today, but a couple fixes still need to be taken care of (apparently construction errors from what the guy told me). The new railings really look nice:

Nice to see places where they build bridges just for walkers and bikers.

Warmer today so got out for a short ride around town. This is Ragged Mountain Reservoir on the edge of town. There’s a mile or so of gravel and then a stinger 12% climb up to this point, so I felt kind of smug when a couple of cars loaded with fancy mountain bikes drove past me while I was on the hill. I guess there are mtb trails around the lake.

I am new to the thread.

It was in the mid forties today so I got the Blue Streak down. I road 17 miles in about 2 hours. A nice PA Dutch tour, from New Holland to Metzlers Church, then to Hinkletown, and back to Nee Holland.

Yup, 6' 6". In fact, when we were in the parking lot at the finish of the ride I tried out his bike. I had to get on it side-saddle because I couldn't straddle it with both feet on the ground and I could only turn the pedals while standing on them.

Speaking strictly for myself I am most assuredly not tandem material

Not a great day for a ride, but as good as it's likely to get in this part of Vermont in January. East on Route 2 from Marshfield village to the overlook above Molly's Pond and back--uphill out, downhill back. This is the view looking south from the top, with my (slightly rusty, have to deal with that sometime) Viva Sport, set up as a winter two-speed. Apologies for the non-drive-side photo.

I was cold by the time I got to Marsfield.

An unusually bright and clear morning today, with no rain forecast, so I did a few miles on the Paris Sport. Out of Weston through Banwell, Sandford, Churchill, and Langford, then a long climb through Butcombe and onto the hills above Blagdon Lake. Through Nempnett Thrubwell (great village name!) then along the hill tops past Bristol Airport before a long descent into Farleigh. Back home from there via Claverham, Yatton, Congresbury, and Locking.
Just under 45 miles in some rare winter sun. One of the best things about today's ride? The sheer number of people, old and young, out cycling during lockdown. Just got to hope some of them keep cycling when things are more normal.

Got the brakes on my MT200 upgraded rebuilt with new kool stop brake pads and straddle hangers. So took a nice ride to the top of Beaver Creek and back only about 10 miles but with about a 500ft climb and descent which is the reason upgraded the brakes.
