Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Let's see;

Big Ed, Eddy Merckx
Miguel Indurain
Bernard Hinault
Laurent Fignon
Joop Zoetemelk

In this group you have approx 20% of all TDF championships.

And they did it without wearing stoopid a$$ed helmets!

Giovanni Valetti - Il Campione Dimenticato

Won the Giro in 1938 and 1939 when he beat Gino Bartali in his prime. Also, I believe him winning the 38 Giro and Tour de Suisse made him the first cyclist to win two multi-stage tours in the same year. I could be mistaken. Some bad luck in 1940 and WW2 sent him into obscurity working his remaining life in the Alfa plant.

I may be a bit biased as I am an associate producer of his documentary.
