Calling the Taipei cognoscenti...
Planning a bike trip to Taiwan in a few weeks. Still undecided about bringing my own rig, or buying a bike in Taipei. My questions are:
Bike.gang.uk, any suggestions?
Thanks.
- What's the best area in Taipei to be based in, close to folder/minivelo shops?
- What are good (i.e. patient service, knowledgeable staff, english spoken, good prices, easily accessible location) shops to pick up a Pacific Cycles Birdy or Reach?
Bike.gang.uk, any suggestions?
Thanks.

Here is looking forward you will bring a Birdy GT back in Bali. Maybe you can directly visit the Pacific Cycles batcave and share the pics here.

Agree. They should offer more color options on the Reach GT, although the matte black is gorgeous.

As the owner of a decade plus old Reach Offroad, the Reach is a great riding bike. The fold is OK, and better on the current bike, but the ride is really good. New/current bikes appear to have a lighter and better designed fork, as well as disc brakes which is generally a plus. Probably not your best heavy cargo touring bike, but geometry and ride are good. Not as light as my carbon road bike, but well worth owning.
I wish it was more available in the USA, I bought mine from a dealer here in Washington, but he was going out of business and as far as I can tell I would have to get one from San Diego, CA now.
The Reach GT looks like a nice bike.

A Reach may have to wait...
I just acquired two bamboo frames...
...which will divert funds away from the Reach.
