Converting to Tubeless

I just bought a Trek Procaliber 6 with Bontrager Kovee 28-hole Tubeless Ready rims and Bontrager XR2 Team Issue, Tubeless Ready tires. What do I need to do to convert these wheels to tubeless? I have a pair of Stan's tubeless valves from an old road wheelset that I converted back to tubes (don't ask!) and sealant. Do I need rim strips? Not sure what else would be required. Thanks in advance.

If they are labeled as tubeless ready rims then you need nothing other than valves and sealant. Tape should be on the rim already.

If there is no tape, rolls of tape like Stans is relatively inexpensive. Are the tires tubeless ready? Also may need an air compressor to seat the tires correctly

If you have Bontrager TLR (tubeless ready) wheels, go to the LBS and get the rim strips and valves specifically for those rims. The rim strips change the wheel bed form into a tubeless bed. Do not use tape or anything else on Bontrager TLR wheels.

So does that mean my Stan's tubeless valves won't work? Thanks.

They might... The TLR valves have a different shape rubber plug.

depends on the profile of the rim.
Sometimes the round rubber part of the valve can't seat properly so that's why some are square/rectangular
Normally not an issue anymore since newer rims are fairly wide

If you have issues fitting the tubeless valves, using some rubber o-rings might help. (I had to use some 6x2 rubber o-rings to help seal the valve).
