Winter Training - Rocky Balboa or Drago?

The arrival of the first snow of the season a few days ago marked the beginning of my yearly internal debate.

Is this the year that technology, i.e. indoor trainers or rollers with computerized video courses to ride, replaces the layers of polartec, neoprene, nylon and polypro or will this be another season of frozen eyelashes, waterbottle shaped iceblocks and sketchy terrain for my training rides?

Today's 28 mile ride in upper 20 dgree temps accompanied by 10 - 14 mph northeasterly winds has forced me to face the music, it's decision time..............theme from Rocky plays in the background..........I'm staying with my man Rocky..........maybe next year we'll wise up and move indoors for the winter...........nah!

I just wanted to give this a bump because your thread title alone deserves more attention.

Rocky -- but then I live in So Cal, its 85 today, and I don't own a trainer.
