don't know about the rides in that area, but down here in sd county, try the swamis ride and the reynolds ride during the winter months.

I know that Floyd will train by himself or ride with cyclovets. I ran into him on the coast solo a few weeks ago, almost ran him over on a climb he was going so slow.

They'd ride with BikeForums, but we push them a little too hard and it breaks their training regimen.

Yeah, but that is because they are pushing themselves to keep up and stay on your Assos...

There are pros at many of the local training rides. Riders from Toyota-United, Rock Racing and Successfulliving.com do the Rose Bowl on occassion. These same guys also do the Bud's ride on Wednesdays and the Montrose ride on Saturdays. Antonio Cruz does El Dorado when he's home along with several ex-pros. This past year Como was mostly ex-pros but it was plenty fast. Tony kept threatening to go to Como but I don't know if he ever made it down. There are plenty of fast 1s and 2s to measure yourself against since the pros aren't always trying to race when they are at a training ride. A lot of times the pros and the other fast guys have been on there bikes 3 or 4 hours by the time they get to the training ride.
I've known guys that have done Como in a cast. No one will care as long as you don't ride like you're going to put someone else in a cast.

Chris's first team was Swami's. I was my first team as well, but please don't mistake me for someone with his skillz...lol. It was back when I lived in Encinitas and he was just becoming known as a guy who would put the hurt on everyone. The Swami's ride still pulls its fair share of pro and ex-pros. People like Steve Hegg, Axle Merkxx (sp) etc. If you haven't done it, bring a fresh pair of legs.

I train alone.
When I go on social rides I always wear the silicone fat suit I got from Universal Studios so as not to intimidate the noobs.
