I sometimes ride at night, one light in front, one in back. It's fine.

Though it probably should be said: as cyclists we know (or should know) every ride could be our last. I long ago asked myself if the risk of possibly being hit, running into/over something I didn't see until the last instant, or just committing some boneheaded error all on my own, was worth it. Yes, I decided, yes, it is. If non-riders can't understand, not my problem. There are no guarantees in this world. Better to live doing what you love than trying to avoid every risk because... you can't

Just to keep things in perspective, all that is true no matter what you do. Even taking a shower.
