Anyone using Garmin on a Chromebook?
Wondering if anyone is currently using a Chromebook and downloading their data to Garmin Connect and/or Strava. I'm 99% sure my next laptop will be a Chromebook, but the ability to utilize my Garmin on it is very important. I would imagine it would work just fine as I use the Chrome browser now on my Windows machine, but because the 'book has only the Chrome OS, just wanted to be sure it's dependent on it being either Windows or Mac.

I'm thinking it would probably work since uploading is web based. So long as you can point to the external source to upload the file. I don't own or have any working knowledge of Chromebooks though.

I tried uploading my Garmin 510 activity to Garmin Connect using my HP Chromebook 14 and it worked just like my desktop with Windows 8.1. You have to use the manual upload method since Garmin Communicator is not installed. Plugging in the 510 brings up a file window with all of the folders on the 510. Look for the "Activities" folder where the .fit files are stored.

I do it with an acer 720 Chromebook. As mentioned you have to do a manual upload but works fine with Garmin Connect and Strava
I think that the problem will be if I need to update the FW. I don't think that you can do that with the Chromebook
But I love mine

You can, by downloading then copying the appropriate gupdate.gcd file to the device. I've always done firmware updates this way rather than use Garmin's Web Updater.

Less worried about a FW update, I can do something like that on a different computer (i.e. wife's!)...but I'm not allowed to use it on a regular basis.
