Merlin UK - thumbs up!
Sadly, most UK mail order sites no longer ship Shimano parts to the US. Merlin is an exception. I ordered a complete 8000 group at substantial savings over US prices. It took not quite two weeks to arrive, a little longer than I expected. The parts were individually packed in very substantial cardboard boxes and the lot was in a larger box with plenty of bubble wrap. I don't know how long this can continue but for now there is still a good alternative to the jacked up Shimano USA prices.

Prices are indeed lower.
Thank you!
Going to try ordering.
New Cateye enduro costs half what I can find in U.S. (50% off).
Pretty limited selection of components ... not much for touring etc.
1 Rim.
Going to try them out even if shipping is higher.
Really miss the Bike Nashbar of my youth. Mud Sweat and Gears.
So many others gone now. Seems like even places like Licktons are a shadow.
What I really miss is the detail that used to be provided on products.
Was once easy to identify and find extreme strength rims with double eyelets.
Frame selection not to my taste.
Must be some place in Taiwan that does direct. Something like Dealextreme from China dx dot com.
Except I try real hard not to order from China ... home of involuntary organ donations etc.

Nothing to add, just got tired of seeing that silly Panaracer thread on the front page.
