I have one on the front of my Felt. They are heavier than the average wheel. I have not seen any performance gain whatsoever from it. Mostly for looks and sacrifices performance at that. That aside, I really like how the wheel rides. I like that there are no spokes to damage. The wheel will mostly stay true unless you really trash it. It rolls smoothly and paired with the carbon fork on my bike, it is a nice combo. The fad has all but disappeared and from what I understand, Aerospoke is no longer in business.

Maybe the fad has passed in some cities but out here in Southern CA it's still raging. Way too many dumbass kids with Aerospokes (usually on the rear) in San Diego.

The shop recently got an email from a sales rep at Aerospoke so I'm assuming they're still in business.

i always liked the idea of the look but havent seen an application of aerospoke wheels really done right. plus building your own rims is more fun.

Looks like they had a fire and are temporarily closed. Saw a few posts on forums and online about their number being invalid. Their website explains more if anyone is interested.

For me, I like them, and would run duals if I could find a rear that was not $440. A bit more and you can have a full set of Mavic Ellipse wheels.

Bought an aerospoke from my roommate who ditched the fixed gear scene for $50. Rode it for a few months and decided I'm over that kinda stuff. Sold it for way more.

Also sold my Specialized trispoke, and my Spin trispoke. I'm even getting out of the super deep profile rims. Crazy how my likes/dislikes/taste has changed over 10 years.

Is it a trend though? In the 3 cities I've lived in since getting into riding, I haven't seen them around too much. None of my personal friends do it. It's not very common in photos online. It fits a specific purpose for myself, with riding small frames.

And I've never been into fgfs. That **** always annoyed me. I got into track bikes/fixed gear because I loved how minimal and stylistic these bikes were. I loved the sleek look of skinny tires on small steel frames with narrow drops. Throwing fat ass tires and wheels on beefy frame sets and using BMX bars...just super ugly.

I was a pretty big trend a few years back.

A few silly kids are still hanging onto it here in SD too. Those are the same kids with their saddle pointed at their headset and riser bars just wide enough for an Oury grip on each side of the stem who carry on about how "aggressive" their bikes are.

Jeez those are some wide bars. I have seen some kids in my area that go even shorter to where they have to cut down their Ourys. I am not sure why that is cool. They are super short or way too long. What is wrong with a good reasonable comfortable length?

Also your mom was a pretty big trend a few years ago ; )
