Got this Legnano DS crank and pedal for fun, maybe the Magistroni rings OR maybe the whole bike, just need to find a big frame or whole bike, cheap.

Aside from being crusty, its in great shape, pedal is I assume Way Assauto.

Most recently inspired by Mr. obrentharris and his back to back cool Olmo and Follis.

I have a 1960 Olmo that is really too small at 58 and might trade the frame but will probably get it going at some point and decide what to do, would hate to let it go.

Any leads greatly appreciated, TIA.

If nothing else, you can hang it on the wall, in your museum. 😉

I hope you find a proper frame to hang it on, though. 😎

Tx, yep, originally got it for the steel Magistroni rings as they fit most all the 3 arm steel cranks and I have a complete crank with alloy rings.

I used that on the 58 Paramount for awhile with the Campy GS 3 arm so now I could do steel, also have plenty of other Simplex, TA and Stronglight rings to play with.

Now if I could just find a deal on a big frame.

Building a bike around a specific component is cool. You're in it for the long haul.

That crank has been USED! Steel chain rings with significant wear on the teeth.

I do not understand why no one makes Campagnolo-compatible chain wheels that have steel teeth, even if it was just the teeth.

Yep, good eye and matters not on this, mainly just period correct place holder if I get there, also have plenty of other usable just as correct rings.

There's a long way to go, can't imagine I won't find more if I keep going.

A few months ago I sold Brent a '61 Legnano Gran Premio that I got a deal on. It had an Olmo headset that Brent needed for his restoration. I loved the little 54cm Legnano, but it was too small for me. Probably too small for you too, but I think he passed it off to a friend of his. I'm still riding the '64 Roma that I got new, as a junior racer. Good luck in your quest. They are great bikes.

This is the Gran Premio I recently sold, sadly too small.

It had a steel crank with aluminum rings.

My '64 Roma Olimpiade, had since new, mostly original.

Never seen Legnano branded hubs like that. The ones I have, and others I've seen all have the logo parallel with the axle.

There's an orphan NDS crank arm on efbay right now.

It has the logo like the other hub so not a match for my crank or it would be on its way to me already.

So the crank and pedal got soaked, scrubbed and cleaned up a fair bit, they're still pretty rough but somewhat shinier anyway.

Though not certain, the Legnano pantographed Campagnolo hubs run the lettering parallel to the center line of the hub...

Gipiemme also pantographed their hubs for Legnano. Their lettering ran around the hub (not my picture)...
