$100 seems high for a bike of this caliber with a stuck seat post.

Yeah for $50 - 60 I would tackle a stuck seat post. But I really can't buy more bikes...at the moment

IMHO I would hold out for a nicer Moto I once worked on a Mirage of that size, 23, and it fit like a glove so after I sold it I started looking for something nicer in the Motobecane line and finally found a Grand Touring in the same size for not much more than this Mirage is going for, and its the nicer Vitus tubing. Really like it

Agreed 52telecaster Peugeots too, the French really had a knack for making a smooth riding frame regardless of material.

+1, at the risk of piling on. Recently an '84 Peugeot P8 with Carbolite 103 came to me with some beat old mismatched Schwinn steel wheels and two broken derailleurs. I cobbled it up with an old 105 RD and a set of aluminum wheels from a Trek, just for a test drive, and found that it punches well above its "post bike boom bike" class.

There are soooo many interesting $100 (or less!) bikes out there. You really have to be disciplined not to find yourself with 30 bikes that you cannot maintain and will never have the time to ride.

How 'bout just three really nice ones? Motobécane made two that are usually easy to find, the GR and GJ. Pretty much anybody here that can overhaul a bike can find one of those two for easy money. The two upper ones are a quite a bit more difficult to find, the LC and TC. But the search is worth it.

Looks like a steel seatpost, so no galvanic corrosion; i.e., no heroic measures should be needed to remove the seatpost.

I remember posting a local link to one in your size for $200 and you said it was more than you normally pay. I thought you could easily trade up and break even or make a few bucks in the process.
I saw another recently in Burien that's labeled as a GT in the listing, but it has a 531 decal, so, probably a GJ.

And my point is this: with the knowledge, tools and time we have, we can acquire better bikes, and it needn't cost any further investment besides time. Through acquisition, rebuilding, flipping ... this is how a better, smaller stable is built.
