Display Stand

Ok; I'm talking something that doesn't take up a ton of floor space but will hold that precious cargo upright even thru multiple placements.
This question comes from this years Cirque du Cyclisme.
The tripod stands work fine ...so long as you place the bike on them and leave it. Start moving the bike for best viewable position and...odds are the bottom bracket isn't going to line up with the tripod cradle and...over goes your bike.
I saw a good many of the smaller D style were incapable of doing much better during multiple moves.
The larger L style seemed to work best but....in confined spaces they took up a ton of floor space (using them for the indoor displays intruded on isle way space big time)
I may try the H style one guy fashioned out of pvc pipe.
In the meantime I figured I'd ask.
I view this post as different enough in purpose that it doesn't get answered by the '11 post regadring how one displayed their bike.

Have not seen a "tripod" stand. There is the bipod stand that hooks on the DT and supports the BB in a flat section. I have one of those and yes it is a pain to move the bike once. Alignment is an issue; however, I do prefer it over the others I have seen from an esthetic point of view. One way to make it "movable" or easy to move the bike is to use a tie strap to hold the BB support in place.

meant bi-pod
These are fine for setting up one time..get it in place and leave it.
When you start getting folks (other than yourself) moving your ride not so much

Something that stays with the bike as it's moved around would be ideal. I think they call that a kick stand. But who wants that.
The most easily de-activated one I have is this. Bike sits upright well, but lifts right out. Relatively small footprint, etc,

The folding rear axle stand from PBK is the best I've seen for the money.
I use mine for building, adjusting gearing, wrapping bars, just about everything.
Small footprint, stable, and cheap. I think I paid $9 for mine, on sale, and even at $20, not bad.

I do like the new display stands that go under the back wheel and hook behind the L skewer.

Yeah, I've got some very much like this one myself, and like it a lot. A former bike shop owner built a bunch of these a couple years ago and when she went out of business I bought a couple from her - wish I'd bought more, frankly, because they really work great.
