too much rust?
Vintage Colnago Super frameset, large
'm not in the market just yet, but for when I am, I'd like to know if this visible rust is indicative of a totally wasted (for a monsterquad 220lb feller) frame.

Doesn't look like a problem to me. The bb shell is quite a bit thicker than the tubes.

+1 Just a flesh wound. Bathe it in oxalic overnight, hose off, dry, and use a fine grit sandpaper before retouching the frame ... good as new.

I'm not that great at guessing the size but it looks like a 58 or so frame. Will that fit you well? If not, the rust doesn't matter. Plastic bikes come in small medium and large. Real bikes are measured in centimeters.

You guys are braver than me... I wouldn't chance it for anything over $100. If you can see that much rust, who knows what you can't see.

I've seen worse. But for $300, it'd better be just your size and just your cup of tea; for just a frame and fork, no nothing else, that's some bucks. I don't care if it's a Colnago, it's a looong way from being a complete bike.
And from what you said in your previous posts, I think you should be looking for a MUCH larger frame.

DO IT! Overnight bath in a rust eliminator of you choice, spray bomb the BB and you've got a sweet ride. The seller sells
, Rolling in, make a face when you see the BB, offer $150 and stick out your hand. My bet is he takes 2 Bills for it. For that and box of OA and a spray bomb, you've got a Red Colnago for less than $250!

Yeah, I'm not in the market yet but I'm just getting a feel for how much I won't be throwing at cranks, headset and wheels to have room for a better frame. I'm sure prices will be turning around and climbing by the time I'm able to be laying out greenbacks. I'll be doing some looooong rides and I really don't want to be stuck in some town looking at the options given by a cracked tube and being several counties from home...
