I regret giving away my Airborne Zeppelin frame. I gave it away to be a first prize in a Haitian bike race (I knew a bike mechanic from Haiti who did a lot of stuff to promote cycling there). It went for a good cause, but I still miss it. I gave it away because it just didn't fit right but considering all its other great attributes (cost, comfort, handling, lightness) I've always second guessed my decision

Ok, we'll just crack on the helmet and the T shirt, and the handlebar bag.

I was riding along on the San Gabriel River Bike path in Long Beach (it is a dedicated MUP), when I heard a car behind me. Normally cars are not allowed on the path but sometimes the Army Corp of Engineers or the County have cars and trucks on there). The cars are normally very respectful and will not pass a cyclist. I heard the car rev it's engine so I moved over to my right to let him pass. The car (turns out to be a pick-up truck) guns its engine and runs into me knocking me from my Eddy Merckx Corsa Extra. The guy gets out of the truck with a tire iron and runs at me while I'm on the ground. He picks up my bike and puts it in the back of the truck. I get up and grab the bike out of the bed and he comes at me with the tire iron again. I drop the bike and he gets back in the truck and takes off. I got the license plate but it was a stolen truck. That is one bike I'd love to have back.

Ha! You losers! I still have my bike that I wish I still had!
Granted, the top tube is stretched and the down tube is buckled from where I hit the edge of a sidewalk, but I'm in the process of getting it ride-worthy otherwise. It was the first brand-new bike I ever bought- a 1984 Nishiki Olympic 12.
I just bought a new tire and tube for it. In February, you see, on the second day I was bicycle commuting, and before I was brave enough to ride on the street, I was on a sidewalk where a couple sections were missing. Where it picked up again there was a sharp transition I didn't realize was there, and I hit the edge of the new sidewalk and went right over the handlebars. The frame is what it is. the fork was bent pretty bad (tire was behind the downtube) but I bent that back using an aluminum ladder.
And just yesterday, I decided to take the ol' gal off her hooks in the garage and get her roadworthy again. I cleaned her up good, put on some sexy new handlebar tape, and today I bought a new tire to replace the one that hit the curb (and damaged the belts which I found out in August when I pumped the tire up to 90 psi and the belts let go).
Hopefully you'll see pictures of the ol' gal up here soon.
HAHAHAHA! I still have the bike I wish I still had!!!!!

The little black bmx I learned to ride a w/o training wheels on. It was spray painted maroon and passed on to my sister who also learned to ride on it. It would be far too small to ride, but it would still be cool to have. I have to see if I can find a picture of it.
Great thread.

In many ways I wish I'd kept my 2000 Giant OCR3 rather than trading it in on my 2002 Giant OCR3 ... but the 2002 Giant OCR3 is a good bicycle too.

The bike I miss most is still a frame and fork in my garage. She's a 1987 Nishiki Modulus that I got on Oct. 14, 1987. She was my first real bike. I have stripped her of her parts over the years with the intention of someday doing a full restoration. Last year I installed a set of fixed-gear Deep Vs and commuted on it, but now she hangs alone from a single vinyl-coated hook from the rafters.
I feel like a very bad bike owner.

R.I.P.
that's the one that the seatpost seized in the frame right? The shop tore a hole in the seat tube if I'm not mistaken.
As for me, the BMX bike I raced when I was 8. That thing was hot! Chrome norco frame, red anodized cranks. But, it was sold so I could get a bike I could ride again, which got me back into cycling after a number of years.

This thread is so depressing...
Maybe I'll be smart enough to never sell my Raleigh or my Panasonic...
I'm only 19, so, hopefully I've got a lot of time left to make some dumb mistakes... but, I love these bikes too much to let them go. Hopefully they won't be mistakes I'll make...

My mid-70's Peugeot. Don't know what style it was, or what model, but it was a yellow 7 speed road bike (with a freewheeling chainring). Most comfortable bike I was ever on, and I got it for free. Gave it away because I was stupid, in High school (which is redundant) and was into mountain bikes. ick.

I missed my old Peugeot. Bought two of them for $10 at a yard sale, one is for parts. At that time, I couldn't afford anything decent and the Peugeot was the best bike I ever rode at that time. I wished I kept one of them.

Schwinn World Voyageur, opaque blue. Set up for the long haul with black Blumel Popular fenders, sew-up wheels, and a three bag Cannondale, red nylon, setup. Rode thousands of miles a year on that bike between '73 and '77.
Find me another frame, 23-1/2", and I'll start building its clone.
