2022 Specialized Allez Sprint frame crack or paint crack
I just got a new Allez Sprint frame-set and I was washing it after getting it back from the shop and I noticed what looks like a crack in the weld on the seat stays. Does this look like it's in the paint or in the actual welds?

The last 2 pics make it look like the seatstay is cracked.
Regardless of if it's cracked paint or cracked tube- return that and have them give you a new frame.

I'm almost certain it is a weld crack.

I don't know what it is since I can't look at it as close as I want. I do know what it looks like, but I can't do any thing about it.
Why don't you take it back to the shop it was bought from and then see what they say. Or if too far away, the closest authorized dealer of that brand. Or a nearby bike shop that might be able to deal with the manufacturer if it does turn out to be a crack that might be covered by warranty.
If you bought it online, then call or contact the place you bought it from and see how they want to proceed.

If the bike was purchased new from an authorized dealer and you have registered the frame you get a lifetime warranty so I would take it back to the dealer and have them inspect it and help you file a warranty claim. Give them a little time as sometimes they can take a few days or a week to get back in some cases but they should support a warranty claim. It looks cracked to me but without actually seeing it in person and inspecting it, I cannot be 100% sure.

Why don’t you use a very fine probe to explore the deeper situation? Otherwise I agree with above. Online search may reveal others with similar problems.

Looks like a weld crack, if you are under warranty ask a new replacement frame exchange from the bikeshop where you purchased it

I'm not a metallurgist, but I've had several cracked frames. That's a cracked frame. Heat-affected zone, tension side of weld, probably widens when you get on the bike.

This last week had the CF bike in for a Pro-tune the LBS and got a call that my bike may have a crack at one of the rear caliper mounting points. The bike is a 2020. This of course sent me into a worst case scenario but I located a company in Colorado that repairs CF frames. When I got to the bike shop two days later and they showed me the ‘crack’ it was a paint gouge that has been a known for two years. Whew…. Good luck to the OP.
