ST 7700 compatible with RD-6500?
I did some searching and found some old links to Shimano compatibility charts that did not answer this.
I just got some Dura Ace ST-7700 shifters. My current set up is Shimano 9 speed bar end shifters with Ultegra RD-6500 and FD-7403. It all works together. Will the ST-7700 shifters work with my existing components? If so is it hard to set up?
I did all the install on my existing drive train but never hooked up integrated brake/shifters. How hard could it be?

The ST-7700 brifters will work fine with your RD-6500 rear derailleur. The mis-match may come with the front shifting. Do you have a triple crank as your front derailleur implies?? 7700-series STI's came in double OR triple versions so you need to have the corresponding model.
STI's aren't hard to set up. Look at the Shimano tech documents web site for a detailed guide.

If the left shifter won't work with the FD 7403 would I need to get a Dura Ace FD or just something newer than 7400 series like maybe 105 or Ultegra?
Never used brifters so i don't know if there is clicking involved with the FD.

My only concern with the front derailleur is the width of the cage, 7403 is a bit wider than 7700. Indexing is not an issue, 7700 shifters double only and the front shifter has no intermediate click stops, only a trim position for the inner chainring. D-A 7700 is my favorite front shifter, no chainrub at all.

Leave the left-hand bar-end shifter on to control the front derailleur, and only change the right-hand lever to the new STI. I run a version of this on every bike - sometimes a barend shifter for the FD, sometimes a down-tube shifter, and always STI for rear derailluer - and I love it; you can use whatever front derailleur you want and have complete control over it.

I installed the 7700 shifters today and all the parts are playing well together. No problem with the 7403 FD. I don't know if you can trim it somehow but so far I didn't need to.
It did take me a few minutes to get the shifter cable in the left shifter, it's not a straight shot but it went in after I yelled and then asked nicely.

What's that? Kind of like R2D2?
My 7700 front shifter and FD let me use any gear combination with no chainrub on the FD. Never need to trim. No extra clickstops. I don't know how it could be better. I like my Record 10-speed but it does require occasional trimming.
