Wheelset upgrade
I'm looking for recommendations for a wheelset upgrade for my four year old Windsor Dover (7005 db aluminum which is still in great shape). The wheels that came stock are Alex DA22 with some generic hubs (8 speed). They're getting pretty worn. I'm wanting to stay under $200 but a little over is ok. I'm looking at these:

but don't know if this is a good upgrade or not. Should I be looking at something different? I'm 185 lbs. Thanks for the help.

yikes! those vueltas are probably the heaviest wheels i've ever seen. for $200, you won't get much lighter, but over 1 kg for the front wheel alone? i guess that's what it takes to get to a 300 lb weight limit.
you could also get something like this, which comes stock on a lot of bikes:

I would check out the forte titan wheelset from performance. I have a friend with them and they seem okay.

Edit: the mavics are probably of higher quality, but I wouldn't trust any warranty.

I ordered a pair of these Vuelta Corsa Pro's, just waiting on them. They are a little lighter than the HD's.

Thanks for the replies all. I'll look into the Aksiums and Fortes as well...
How do these look?
https://www.pricepoint.com/detail/187...set-Silver.htm
I guess reliability is very important to me. Not to mention that I don't true my own wheels and the nearest LBS is an hour away. I guess I need to find a happy medium on weight/strength ratio.

For your pricerange the highest quality wheelset will probably be these from BWW:
https://www.bicyclewheelwarehouse.com...s/prod_28.html
Most other sets at that price will not use the same level of components and will not be built to the same standards.

Neuvations anyone? I love mine, M28 AERO3s, around $250.00 for the set, 16 & 20 spoke count, seem to roll forever, I'm 205lb and haven't had to true them yet, look good too, hubs and skewers have a very nice finish.

I am also looking for a sub $300 black wheelset, but my bike is blue. Seems like every set of black wheels has red lettering on it. Anyone know of a set that just has white lettering besides the Titans?

I have to thank you for this link. Though the CXP22 / 2200 wheelset looks very affordable, I browsed around their site and found the Open Sport / 105 wheelset for $229 that I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on... I also leaned alot from their Road Wheel Buying Guide that I never knew before.
only the 4 or 5 spokes that are closest to the ground are really supporting your weight

Just as I thought I was decided on a wheelset, I stumble across a pretty good deal on a set of 2010 Aksiums for under $200 at Chain Reaction. They show they ship to the US and at a fair price from what I see. Question - are there any differences, pros or cons from the 2010 and 2011 models? The reviews I seen on Road Bike Review seem to be mixed... Also, has any US riders ordered from Chain Reaction and what kind of shipping time are we looking at? Thanks.
