Suggestions for MTB
Hello all,
I am from Kolkata, India; 22 years of age. I have been a bike rider since I was a little kid. Up until now, I have only used two single speed road bikes but sold off my last bike 2 years ago when it started to show its age after 7 years of use.
So now I am in the market again for a new bike and this time I want to try my hand at a multi-speed MTB, preferably from firefox because its the only good store I know where I live.
The roads here in Kolkata are typically bad and I will be riding off road too sometimes. Commuting to work starting next year is also one of my priorities.
Budget is Rs. 15k (~300 USD) with some accessories like front lights, saddle and mud flaps included. Thank You.

Pretty much any mtb by Trek, Specialized, Giant, KHS, Fuji, and Felt in that price range are good choices. I can't really guide you to one in particular because proper fitting is important.

@Peacob, the used market in India is definitely not a good place to shop for bikes. People only sell their bikes here when they are badly damaged or really old. Such bikes are then sold after a nice repair and paint job which needless to say doesn't last long. For 300 USD, I would not gamble with used products as that's a lot of money in this part of the world.
@Peter_leo, I know Trek is available here in Kolkata but I have doubts about the others you have mentioned. Hopefully someone from Kolkata can give me information on where to shop for premium brand bikes.
