He used to post prolifically and was probably the most helpful poster on any of the many forums I frequent. He hasn't been around in a while. Does anyone know how he's doing?

Just noticed his Chain-L site is down too. I hope he is OK and just taking a break. If anyone knows anything about him please let us know. I miss his posts and his chain lube is my favorite.

I messaged him a while back. He's ok and everything. Just mainly said he had other things going on to keep him busy.

I also PM'd Francis a few months ago. He said he got tired of the Bike Forum thing and had other priorities requiring his time and energy. Sounds like when I closed down my store, Bike One, and all kinds of people were telling me how sorry they were for my situation...Meanwhile my wife and I were excited to move on to our next phase of life. I wish him well. Fortunately it seems like whenever I have a question, he's already answered it for someone else, so his record of posts will continue to be a useful resource.

Hi
I really like Chain-L, works great for me. I noticed the Chain-L website is not available. Has Chain-L been discontinued? Will it be available in the future?

I mostly like it for how thick it is, and that I can almost always get in "just one more ride" before reapplying.

Hi All,
The Chain-L website is back up and working, and my favorite chain lubricant Chain-L is still available. Mr. FBinNY is fine.

FBinNY has wide experience as a cyclist as well in the industry itself. He always has thoughtful and helpful comments. The trolls are sociopaths who delight in clogging whatever activity is going on and they are everywhere.

I believe I'm one of his largest customers in the Upper Peninsula. I hate running out of bike stuff, so I tend to stock up. There was a time years ago when I once counted some 30 bottles of lube in my drawer. That was back when I was bouncing all over between brands and trying a bunch of different types. I'm down to a lot less now -- just 12, it looks like.

I'm glad this thread is out there, and I'm glad to hear that Francis is doing fine. I frequently appreciate his repository of knowledge from over the years.
In the meantime, we still have Chain-L, and we still have HillRider (another long-running very knowledgeable poster)
