When I bought my Grail, I couldn't find anything close - like not within $1,000.
The Grail has a carbon frameset, carbon seatpost, carbon integrated bar/stem, Fizik saddle, DT Swiss wheels, Schwalbe tires, r8000 drivetrain... for $2,800. I seemed like anything else spec'ed like that was north of $4,000

Canyon seems to invest in hyping their bikes up on you tube but is reality they suck . domane all day , or emonda , or allez , or crux , .
But if you just need a city bike grab an old 80s road bike put some nice tires on it call it a day 300 bucks .
You couldnt pay me to ride a crayon . their bikes look like bootleg tt frames with boring shimano groupsets .

But just because I prefer something else or had a bad experience doesn't make their bikes bad. Their bikes best I can tell are top notch pieces of equipment similar to Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, Scott etc.

While looking for an Ultegra Di2 disk bike, I cross shopped the Ultimate and the Tarmac. I found the Canyon to be considerably less expensive.

I've seen their bikes on GCN/youtube. They look great to me. Not sure spending that kind of money for a commuter/office type bike. I'd personally get a hybrid with racks for that kind of job...something with a bit more versatility in regards to what you are doing. I'd like the fuji touring model for what you plan to use it for. It has drop bars, nice rugged steel frame with rear rack. Good excuse too to use it for some epic tours on the side.

Well, I just ordered the bike...I figure I can't go wrong really. I don't think I could buy the components separately without the frame for much less than I am buying the whole bike for. Canyon has a thirty day return policy and if something happens after that, I'll just go looking for a frame to put these components on. I think my final selling point was the threaded bottom bracket. I have never had an issue until yesterday and the bottom bracket on my XC mountain bike started creaking. On the mountain bike, I can buy a thread together version from wheelsmfg.com and fix it permanently. On the road bikes, you don't have that option...I'll put pics up when it gets here.

That's one of the things I liked (and why I bought) the Canyon - they don't seem to play the "Hey, only pay attention to the standard brochure bullet points - Carbon Frame! Ultegra Drivetrain Disk Brakes, and ignore all the places we saved money like the cheap wheels, tires, saddle, and/or our private label bar, stem, saddle, wheels... " game. The Canyons are spec'ed like we'd build a bike - Fizik saddle, Schwalbe tires, DT Swiss wheels, etc. (well, some of us anyway). I love the RWS thru bolts.

BBInfinite has a solution for roadbikes. I am using it on all my bikes with BB30/PF30 bottom brackets. They work really well.

I've been disappointed in their customer service standards.
In December 2018 - ordered Canyon Grail AL 7.0 (2.199,00 AU$), despite 3 month dispatch time (March 2019)
In January 2018 - Canyon advised "Sorry" the order has been delayed will dispatch in July 2019
In February 2018 - substituted initial order with more expensive Grail CF SL 7.0 scheduled for the original order's dispatch time (March 2019)
In February 2018 - Canyon advised "Sorry" the order has been delayed will dispatch in April 2019
My inquiries for a bike began in November 2018. I have no bike in the meantime. I've since read about the experiences of others with Canyon on these threads, they are illuminating.
I've been disappointed in their customer service standards.

I've had my eye on the AL Grail for a bit myself...Wish they were available. I am not paying for a bike that they can't deliver in a decent amount of time...And I'm in Europe.

2 Canyons here. Ultimate CFSLX and Endurace. Terrific bikes great prices. Even complained that the seat post wasn't shipped as pictured and they swapped it promptly, no questions asked. I'm happy.
