Been off my Tri bike for 3 years...

And I just signed up for Outlaw 2018😳

I have been doing some S/B/R and plenty of bike commuting but my immediate concern is my butt!
I ride a Brooks B17 on my gravel bike/commuter and just sitting on my Fizik Arione Tri 2 tonight, it seems ridiculous.

So, school me on what’s moved on in 5 years of seat technology and what are people riding for comfort in full distance Tri’s these days?

Nothing wrong with the Fizik. Lots of people use that, including me.

Thanks Stan,
I’m 4 commutes and 4 trainer rides into the new year and not back in love with the Fizik. Numb nuts compared to the bike with the Brooks.

Nothing wrong with using the Brooks on your tri-bike...

Uncomfortable sitting in a saddle for what, 40kms? No thanks!

Unfortunately I think the Brooks is comfortable because it’s broken in and it’s the right kind of saddle for an upright road bike/touring position.
I think using it cranked forward 30degrees in the Tri/TT position it would be as bad if not worse than the Fizik.
The bike leg of Outlaw is 180km so definitely need the find comfort!

Sounds logical, however tri the brooks first, you might like it.

Mine is an Arione Tri 2. Love it -- but I've never ridden it more than 100km in a stint. And, coincidentally, the saddles on my road bikes are Brooks Cambiums (C17 and C13).

Tried the Brooks on the trainer for 45mins, definitely worse that the Fizik when on the aero bars. It was worth a try though, at least it confirmed that the issue is a position specific one though.
My training plan has a couple of long sessions coming up this week so I will have to see if I can get used to the Fizik again.

What angle do you have your seats set at?

Bar height?

I've come to the conclusion that the nose of the saddle must point towards the bars. So, if you have quite a bit of bar drop, you should also have the saddle nosed down a fair amount. It may cause you to slip some on the saddle, but your pedaling should make up for that.
