In general I consider the commute slightly more dangerous in the dark, but it only bothers me on the ride home. For whatever reason, riding in the morning in pitch black never bothers me. But for some reason, when it's getting dark on the way home (getting, not even totally) I start getting a little freaked out. No clue why but I hate feeling that way. I'm in no more danger at night than I am in the morning.

My commute is more dangerous in the dark. Not just because of reduced visibility in the dark, but because of differences in traffic morning vs evening (quantity of traffic + people rushing home). So I guess it's more of a it's never dark in the morning and there's always more traffic in the evening...
