I'm addicted to touring bikes as well, so I know how you feel. If I didnt just strap myself buying a Morizumi SCT machine, I'd be driving back to NH with this bike right now. Someone interested in touring should snatch this. Everything included is quality kit, and its worth 2.5x the asking price.

I talked to him a bit via face book, and it turns out it’s the “jumbo” sized frame. 63/64 cm is just too tall for me. Someone’s going to get a niece setup though. I’m pretty sure that’s a brooks B-17 on there, that’s a hundred-sh dollar value alone.

Isn't that the truth. I've owned two Schwinn Passages. Sold both of them because they weren't really what I was looking for and I hated dealing with the 27" -> 700c canti brake fussing.

But then every time I see a skinny tube bike with half-step plus granny and cantilevers I get all hot and bothered.

I've been able to resist pretty well ever since I got my 716 set up the way I want it though.

Speaking of touring bikes, I want this one for the RD alone:

Nishiki Riviera GT with LePree triple pulley RD - $200

That's scratches in the paint, that ain't decals... No TSC anywhere, nor do they show similar models, that I could find.
The bike was bought in 2014 by the prior owner in Portsmouth, ME... not far from the home of Aegis. The current surface of the bike is not the original, but repainted, done many years ago with lots of scratches.

(You had my old eyes convinced, 'til I saw it in person, it's definitely a repainted frame, with a rather thick coating.)

Yes. I think that living in first Chicago, and now New York, I'm buying up all the vintage touring and hiking gear I can lay my hands on as a way of continually preparing for a long bike tour and or camping trip.

No worries, I would have been happy either way, and so couldn't be disappointed. Besides, at that level, it's a best guess, at best.

ID the paint as best as you can. Vinegar will remove acrylic, high percentage isopropyl will remove latex, and acetone will pull up enamel on top of an unscuffed clear coat, without harming the clear too much. Strong isopropyl will also work on spray enamel, but the results are poor compared to acetone. If it's an epoxy paintjob, I'm afraid I can't help much there. AFAIK, that's entirely paint stripper or mechanical removal type deal.
Acetone in normal practice won't harm carbon epoxy.

IDK paint type... Car paint? Rattlecan Enamel? No clearcoat is all I can tell. It's slightly metallic, laid down well, but a little rough, as if nozzle was too far away, or coat was a bit too thin, like not "wet" enough.

Is acetone spilled a little at a time on a rag, then rubbed like mad on the frame considered "normal practice"???
