Zip up your jersey man !!!
ZIP UP YOUR JERSEY MAN !!! I have several jerseys now, finally broke down last year and bought something other than plain Performance brand neon colors. And actually got good deals on fun graphics for the same and/or less than what Performance wanted for their plain jerseys
I bought a few Primal that I really like seeing they are fairly long. Long torso, kind of tall so they are nice being long in the back. Plus the deep pockets.
But I also got a couple of Suarez brand jerseys that are a bit shorter but still work fine.
I have a buddy that told me he hated the Suarez brand because he had a couple and the zippers quickly broke on both jerseys.
When my orders were delivered, one of the first things I saw was a little tag on the zipper that says: "Important, zip up jerseys completely while washing,"
The buddy that was complaining, I asked him if he zipped them up all the way while washing, uhhh no! duhhhhh!
So I figure if it is important for Suarez, then maybe apply it to all jerseys with a zipper. I do now and always will.

Odd.. I can't figure out in my mind any relationship between a zipper being zipped or unzipped and what a washing machine does. I leave all my zippers un-done.. thinking easier for washing and rinsing if the clothing is more opened up.

I wondered if they were thrown in the dryer. Unzipped, that zipper will be banging off the drum.

Zipped up, and inside-out. Gloves, socks, etc. go in one of those garment bags so the washer will stop eating them.
Everything used to get line-dried, but now that some of the 2+ year old jerseys and bibs are sun damaged to the point that different sides are different colors, they ride the dryer with the towels.

My jerseys are washed zippered up, inside out and air-dried indoors. Same for my bike shorts. My oldest jersey is pushing 31 years. A little faded, but otherwise still my favorite. Got a pair of shorts about the same age, still usable.

If I had any and didn't, I'd look like a washed up disco patron.

News flash: you zip up the zippers to prevent the teeth from abrading other garments - not to protect the zippers from any damage.

Yeah, I too zip them up and turn them inside out, mainly so that any pilling happens on the inside where it isn't seen. Nice graphics stay protected as does any reflective treatment.

This is a real thing. I have one jersey that I primarily use for touring because it's large and thus can accommodate my camera easily. I noticed a year or so ago that the upper back and shoulder areas are well faded from the sun. It has seen a lot of trips out west, where the sun has been intense due to clean air and high altitudes.

Then for bibs, toss a knee warmer on top of it for a delightful splash of contrast. My knee warmers get worn maybe 8-10 times a year, and are still black. I think I have 1-2 pairs of bibs still "not yet gray."

The tops of my red rear panniers are more than half way to white after nine seasons. Fortunately, Ortlieb says that sun bleaching for affect waterproofness.
