Pedal suggestions?
Trek FX3 with stock pedals, I want to upgrade to clipless. I have Shimano SPD shoes which seem to work with a lot of different options.
I want something I can use both on solo rides and more casual rides with the family with regular shoes
Suggestions?

I have Wellgo WPD-95B pedals on my 3 bikes. They're spd on one side and flats on the other Great for going out with the kids when I don't need to clip on, but gives me the option for longer rides where I prefer clipless.
There are a lot of options for dual use pedals. Wellgo makes several models and shimano has some really nice ones. Sometimes they're labeled as touring pedals.

Shimano makes a lot of 2 sided pedals check out their XT T8000 (the T not the M) or more casual click'r line.

Ah I was incorrect, I actually have 3-bolt LOOK-style Shimano SPD-SL shoes. That means they are incompatible with the dual platform/clipless pedals. So I think I have 3 options:
1. Just get road pedals and ditch the platforms
2. Get new shoes
3. Get those clip-converters

I have the Shimano m647 pedal on three bikes and I'm very pleased. I can clip in for long rides or ride with sneakers for short rides. Not sure if this exact model is still available (check the internet) but I'm sure Shimano replaced it with another model.

Shimano M324. SPD on one side, useful platform on the other. Price is reasonable. I have a set I bought 10 years ago. My wife uses them now, but they still work great.

I have Nashbar Soho on both of my bikes. Platform on one side, cleat clip-in on the other. Very good pedal.

If you're still shopping, REI is having their anniversary sale. The Shimano m520, m540 and other Shimano pedals as well as other brands are on sale. It looks like the m647 has been replaced by the m747 (also on sale).

I did go to REI and got the A530s on sale, same price as backcountry. I’ll try them and return if I want the M series instead. Any opinions

I had both A530 and M324. I am a clyde, and A530's made some clicking sound. Got M324 on sale, no such problems with them. I would say that M324's are more prone to rust, but more durable. Both are good pedals for an hybrid.
