So, who's set off from Lisbon headed south and east towards Evora, and then crossed into Spanish Extremadura?

My wife and I rode part of that route. We stared in Lisbon went to Evora, Seville ,Cordoba, and Valencia. We crossed into Span at Rosal de la Frontera. We then turned north to Fance, Switzerland, Gemany, Belgium, and ended in Amsterdam. What is the purpose of your question?

Some advice I can give without knowing your intent is about the weather. In the middle of June we experienced 43C temperatures in southern Spain. Do it in the winter!

Not quite what you are looking for, but I rode from Madrid to Lisbon, I crossed into Spain at Elvas/Badajoz, extremely pleasant ride. As you might guess it gets quite warm in the summer months.

Last winter in Portugal was very dry - so much that it posed serious problems to farms
