Annual maintence
All right fellow fat bikers, what are your annual maintenance costs?
I use my fat bike exclusively for winter cycling, so I would expect some harsh conditions. Last year I spent $180 on a rusted bottom bracket. After this winter, I'm looking at $300+ to replace the drivetrain (chain ring, cassette and chain) because the shop said the teeth have shark-toothed.
I never had experienced these types of costs before and I had been riding a 1979 10-speed Sekini since I bought it new.

My annual costs are chain oil since I only ride on groomed trails. So about $6
If you are are spending that kind of money on maintenance you must be riding your fat bike in salty road conditions. Do yourself a favor and buy a throw away Walmart fatbike. It will cost less than what you are spending to replace drivetrain and bottom bracket components on your current bike.

And how many miles do you have that you need to replace the entire drivetrain? Do you maintain it and replace chain at 0.5%? And at that cost it must be GX Eagle.
I'm just confused..... either you ride A LOT and very rough, or something is wrong

Never had a problem with rust. Only the chain, but after-ride maintenance will avoid that.
What fat bike do you have?

My guess is he is riding it on salty winter roads.
Chains and the rest of the drivetrain don't rust from riding it on groomed fat bike trails.
