Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

we havnt had any snow here, which is weird. We usually get the one big snow of about 12 inches and then two smaller snows of about 3 inches.

I just had to cancel today’s club ride due to icy roads. Stupid winter is stupid.

Almost as surprising is the fact that we've had no snow as well.

January is over. It’s February, and winter is still lollygagging. A pretend winter. Fake winter.

Pffft

Sucks!

In one of my former lives, Feb. was maple syrup month. Start tapping around the 10th, and ending when the days and nights are too warm for the sap to flow. Nice way to end the winter.

In those days I did no riding in the winter. Nor indoor training. I was a farmer, with plenty of work to do, and no energy left for cycling, had there been interest.

We’ve had 20” which is +5” but I still beat my January mileage average.

Are you doing assisted at all to try an increase this amount? Typically I’ll do unassisted the first two sets to see where I am at. I will then set a goal for the day like 25 or 30 and do them assisted until I reach that goal.

You can use a chair for assisted, I bought a band at liddle for 4 dollars that I tie around the bar and helps with assisting.

No assist, but that was at the park near work that has the nice bent bar. Hands in the sweet spot on that really helps. On the flat bar in the park near home I'm only good for 2+2 on a good day.
