If you start the worldwide naked bike ride in Portland thinking you'll stay partially clothed, you'll soon feel like a pretender. Then you'll notice the creepers and middle aged oglers along the route. At that point, going natural seems the best way of clarifying your position.

I don't wear work gloves when swimming, thus I also likewise don't ride bare skinned on a bike saddle. some stuff in life just makes sense to do, not because society says to.
Kind of like breathing, In the nose, out through the mouth, but try to tell a mouth breather that. Apparently not everyone is going to be practical.

We were at a party downtown last year, and at around midnight we were leaving and out of nowhere and least 50-60 people start showing up on bikes stopping in a lot across the street. It took a minute for me to realize that they were mostly/fully naked. It was bizarre.

I've done the Portland ride about half a dozen times. Only significant issue riding is sitting down. Some of us have to do that with care. (Cooler temps, hence nighttime rides, helps a lot.) Now I do ride seats that work well for me and I do not need (or even want) additional padding so no shorts isn't an issue for me on that score.
It feels creepy to me to not be fully natural there. As soon as I arrive and I am far enough into the crowd to be out of sight of passers by, I strip. Then all is fine.

a nude beach in person is not the same as a nude beach on a google search!
in person it's more like a Beached whale club gathering......

I would enjoy the freedom.
Only reason I don't is that people get offended and I might get arrested. Plus don't want to force some poor parent to explain that to their kids.
I did look into a bike ride naked rally but too much of a freak show.

No way! I eschew underwear for the same reason I don't wear a mask.

Pass on that, I reckon!
Here in the Algarve, Portugal, nudity is largely accepted on beaches - topless is the norm, so plenty of topless women around and full nude is common on select beaches although you'll see it on mainstream beaches too occasionally. I've done the beach nude thing but only in the non-tourist season and it was just my wife and I on a secluded beach we needed our MTB's to get to. I'm comfortable with my body but not one for display! I do swim naked in my pool though. It is private from the neighbours and it is just easier for drying off when you want to keep dipping in and out of it to cool off and not have to worry about wet swim-shorts.

Naked riding in small towns or rural areas would not be well received.
I've never really lived in a big city, more rural is my thing.
I DO like to be able to pee outside without worrying about my neighbors, meaning I prefer to live on large and forested lots
