Brake pad(s) lightly contacting disc even when disengaged?
I have a new Trek Domane SL 5, and it's my first bike with disc brakes. I've put 100 miles on it so far, all on paved trails, so I'm not on the brakes very often or very hard.
When I'm riding (or spinning the front wheel by hand), I hear a faint sound once per revolution - it's not a "grinding" or a "squealing" - it just sounds like parts are lightly making contact. There's no unusual drag on the wheel as far as I can tell.
My next troubleshooting step is to take the brake rotor off to make sure the sound is from the pad(s) touching the disc, and not from the front hub. But I wanted to ask first if it's normal for new pads to lightly "kiss" a portion of a new rotor even when the brakes aren't engaged?

in my experience the rotors are always a litle out even from new and usually need a tweak, realigning the caliper body if the rub is minimal will usually sought it. Welcome to the disc brake world

Thanks for the help! I think the issue is that the rotor isn't perfectly flat, but the caliper mount has some adjustability so I was able to center the rotor a little better between the pads, eliminating the noise.

I have the exact same noise on my new Salsa Journeyman. Very slight and only hear it when the bike is on the stand. I'll have to check the brake mount alignment. Like most of us...the little noises drive us crazy.
