Drop bar on a hybrid
Was thinking about swapping the flat bar on my 2010 Fuji Absolute 2.0 to a road style drop handlebar. Is there anyway that I can keep the shifters and brakes handles on the flat bar and transfer it to the drop bar? Just wanted to do a little experiment to see if I will enjoy a drop bar and if so. I may keep it that way and change the shifters, brakes etc or maybe one day will purchase a drop bar road bike.
Anything that I need to know about swapping is appreciated.

Educated guess here, yes you should be able to get your shifters and brakes on drop bars. I'm not sure why you'd want drop bars without brake hoods to ride on though. Drop bars are fairly narrow FYI so your hands will be in a narrower stance compared to flat bars.

I've seen it, but I'd suggest once you've decided to keep the drops (if you do) change over to the correct levers etc. Maybe it's a good idea to do it your way first up, before you start spending the big dollars. I've seen on here bar ends to convert to drops. Maybe that's an alternative.

Your old flatbar controls use 22mm clamps
Dropbar will have 24mm grip diameter
not compatible
Look into Soma Sparrow handlebar
allows agressive riding position similar to being in the drops of a dropbar; but lacking hoods position
uses 22mm grip area allowing direct transfer of flatbar controls

I'm planning to convert my Giant Rapid 3 to drops, and already purchased the components. I'm just going straight to the full conversion. A friend of mine did the same thing and likes the drops much better. It offers mulitple riding positions, and like Dunbar mentioned, the hoods are key.
Good luck!

Not many LBS around here stock Hybrids with drop bars. I think the original poster wants to convert and keep and his hybrid, not buy a road bike with drops.
