Memorial Day Weekend Rides

I did some longish rides through the city yesterday and today. The motorists were exceptionally courteous. Many I encountered on the paths greeted me enthusiastically.

Nothing memorable, just the regular 20 mile loop. What is memorable is that this was the first couple days that strung two rides together all year. I am way way off yearly miles this year. However, in my defense, I have been doing strength and cardio training on a daily basis all year. Time is a pleasant surprisingly really good for me.

Hopefully, tomorrow I might do a bit longer ride.

Not often they see Uncle Sam on a bicycle. Dang cool of you for the holiday.

I think this was the first time I have done 30 plus miles on back to back days all year. My bum shoulder is complaining more than anything else.

My sinuses are all plugged up, which makes it difficult. I tried going out yesterday morning to see if the increased physiological activity would loosen up the accumulation so I could blow it out as 'snot rockets' while riding. That didn't work and I just felt worse, so only about 8 miles. Nothing today, but its off-and-on light rainshowers today anyway here in Southern California.

70 mile (2506 elevation gain) loop today. Pretty brutal on the last 8-10 miles, as it's only my second ride of the Spring after a Winter of getting fat.

But I'll get in biking shape quickly.

My Memorial Day weekend started with a half day Friday and a tad under 4 1/2 hours on the trails with the 29+ bike. Saturday was a quick 15 miles on the Zipp2001 Single Speed. Today (Sunday) was a

tad over 25 miles on the Zipp2001 TT bike. Memorial day will start on the trails with a wife on her first ride on her new bike, then off on the road bike for undecided miles.

Well aren't you the festive thing.

And are those blue and red cables too? Oh, my goodness.
