Addiction LXXX

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Saw my parents last night, wife got a nice picture of a Christmas kitty:

This cat despises me. No clue why.

You apparently don't treat her as royally as she feels she deserves.

It's the first one that caught my eye as I was looking at that site with the $22,000 Corolla. I loved the XKE when I was a kid but probably better to just look and not touch one.

Single reservoir master cylinder, with no vacuum boost.

Scary stuff, but that's what you got when you ordered a factory racecar. Pretty cool days, though today you can get a Hellcat that will eat that thing for lunch, and it only costs a buck for a rear seat delete.

Part of me thinks that she resents me for picking her up when she was a kitten. She really doesn't like to be held. But my parents did the same thing and she's mostly fine with them

I will walk in the house and she complains quite loudly, I've also been hissed at just from walking near her.

Agree. I love those cars too. The XKE caught my eye when I was a youngster, and those straight 6 engines are jewelry.

My grandpa-in-law has an E-type in his garage, with a cover halfway over it and a thick layer of dust over the rest.

It's his pride and joy and he loves telling the story of how he flew out to California, shopped around, found it, and then drove it back to Madison WI.

I wonder what will happen to it when he passes. He cares too much about it to just let it go but has no blood descendants, and I'm not sure anyone in the extended family would really be interested - at least interested enough to care about it as much as he would prefer.

I hate power steering, honestly. My old Civic was great to drive without it. That was a fantastic car; I wish I could have an EM1.

If that Jag is for sale for $10k less than the $22k Corolla, can you let me know where it is before someone else buys it? I'd buy it without blinking for $12k.

If it's in clean, rust free shape, he needs to get ahold of Wayne Carini.

Look at the pics. It may make it onto a trailer before breaking in half. There's a lot of rust on that thing.

Well, it's at $15k now, with 3 hours left. Not sure how much it's likely to ramp up towards the end.

1967 Jaguar XKE Series I 2+2 Project for sale on BaT Auctions - ending December 8 (Lot #40,171) | Bring a Trailer

It's not as nice as it first appears. Has some rust which is a turn off for me.
