Peugeot Mtn Bike?
Saw this posted on FB market and I'm looking to replace an old Trek of similar vintage and this looks in great shape and the price is right. I'm assuming this was made in N. America, probably CDN? Anyone know the year and manufacturer or any feedback on Peugeot Mtn bikes?

This was definitely manufactured in Canada by Procycle, as it has the DBS decal on the top tube. The acronym stood for Direct Brazing System, the name Procycle used for the lugless, internal brazing process they licensed from Peugeot. Procycle let their Peugeot license expire at the end of 2001, so it's no newer that that. It could go back to about 1997. I may be able to narrow it down a bit when I can access my literature but the Dune variants were typically upper entry levels with mixed Acera/Altus derailleur system and off-brand brakes and cranksets. Cost was in the $450-$500 CDN region, depending on the exact variant and year. A friend had one of the variants with a suspension fork. I did quite a bit of work on it, including removing a very stubborn, stuck, seat post.

markk900 There's a bunch of us that live in this area - maybe when this crap is all over we should do a cycle meet and show off all our cool stuff. i was just over at Miele Man's place on the weekend picking up some parts he so kindly gave me and he's very close to your area. I think that brochure you found is spot on.
T-Mar Thanks T-Mar, I knew if you found this post you would identify it ha ha. Good to know what it was priced at as well, so I can come in with a reasonable offer. I have a mid 90's Trek Antelope 800 which I bought brand new for around that same price. Sadly, I didn't take very good care of it and it owes me nothing so I'm ready to retire it.

T-Mar Sorry to bring up an old post but thought this was easier then trying to remind you about this post in a PM. I wanted to ask you if this bike has a cassette or a free wheel? I need to replace which ever format it is along with the chain. I believe Amazon has a 7 speed cassette or freewheel so will buy which fits on this bike
thanks
thanks

You should be able to tell just by looking at it.

Thanks gentlemen, will do just that. I think everything is original based on the spec. brochure listed above which indicated it came with Rigida wheels, which they are. Regardless, will still check.
