Narhay's Specialized Rockhopper

I have been looking for a larger rigid mtb frame for some time and this 19" c-c, 20" ctt rockhopper fell into my lap.

I have a nice m732 XT group and I am going to find some nice tan wall tires. I see the Nobby Nics look good but they are 26x2.35. It is currently wearing 1.5s so I dont really know how much more tire it can take.

Nice looking bike!

I know you '91 Comp probably has a bit of a different frame than my '93 Sport, but I have 2.2" wide tires and there's room for more.

I don’t see any pics. The 91 RH Comp was the same frame as the 91 Stumpy I’ve been told. The 91 Stumpy I entered in the recent Clunker Challenge was a neat bike but too valuable too keep at the time.

Pics are there. Maybe a browser issue on your end.

if 2.2s fit with room to spare I may give it a whirl.

You'll be fine with the tires. I had some 26x2.5 Hookworms on one of my early 90's Rockhoppers with still some room to spare.

The tires fit but not much room to spare with the knobs coming close to the chainstays where they taper. XT hubs with perfect cones and cups on Sun Chinook wheels in really nice condition. I trued them up and I'm pretty sure you could shave with the rims now.

Still, everything cleaned up nicely. I've put a stronglight A9 headset as the previous one was a bit chewed up. A spacer under the fixed cup should solve the chainring clearance issue and I have a couple spare threads on the non drive side to take up the slack. More cleaning and assembly in my future but it is getting there.
