dude i really wish i knew who these people were. There were like 5 people that ran up to me immediately and were SUPER helpful. They like got a towel from somewhere to put on my head, the girl locked up my bike, the ex-EMT guy told me how to hold my head, someone called the ambulance, someone else got some police officers to help me out, some other girl was talking to me to make sure i was ok. Everyone was super helpful and i am very grateful. I'd take them all out to dinner if i could....maybe no handcuffs and duct tape though

snap that's terrible. i hope you heal soon.

i didnt ride for two monhts after my wreck and i was super cautious for a couple weeks riding (cautious as in freaking out scared, not safe") but anyways. full face helmet could have prevented the face injuries XD but i'm jking. no visibility amongst other things.

Same s**t happened to me minus the moving car, it was parked. Dont ask. Tore my lip off. But three months later and I look the same without three teeth and slowly gettin feelin in the lip again. I was wearing a helmet. Doesnt protect the face. Definitely get a brake or ride more carefully. i look forward to the day I have courage to ride brakeless again.

Oh yeah. F**K windshields.

definitely glad you're alright! and i agree with what someone else said, that you're lucky your eyes and teeth are alright.

i hit a car from behind once too, and i was using brakes. sometimes they can help, sometimes it happens too fast. just gotta be smart and keep your distance. and wear a helmet!

Best of luck with your recovery. It doesn't look that unbearable from the photo so you should be ok in no time. Although the 30 stitches and the chewed up ear don't sound like fun...

you probably don't remember because you hit your head so hard.
if you're splitting lanes you have to be ready for a car to do some **** like that. they don't look for cyclists, especially where you were coming from.
you should have been going slow enough that you could've stopped. you must have been hauling ass if your head went all the way through the back window. a brake will stop faster than skidding. maybe you would've still hit the car but you would've been going alot slower.

you're still alive, you will heal. hopefully you'll learn to ride a little safer than that. i've done my share of stupid stuff in traffic but i've cooled that **** out.

Sorry about the hurt budddy, glad you made it out.

For the record, riding imediately behind cars at windshield-breaking speeds is one of the stupidest things you can do, even moreso if you're not rockin' brakes.

dude, i see you around all the time, i live on gardner st. you're the reason i didnt get the orange kilo frameset!

hope you're ok, and i know a ton of kids around us ride brakeless, but dodging and weaving on comm ave with all that construction, the ****ing BU students, giant trucks, and redsox games is super not smart w.out a brake. I've been in that exact situation a few times, but the brake saved me and I really would never think about taking it off. hope your face is ok, i'll yell next time i see you riding around

Get back on your bike soon if you can. It can help smooth out the jitters if you understandably have.

Heal up quick.

It's like being in a car accident... I've been in 6, one serious enough to total the truck i was driving. You'll be scared to ride at first, and once you do get on your bike you'll be too cautious, but in time you'll be more confident again.

Hope you get better fast. Now you can tell crazy hipster stories about your scars at least.

whoa sucks! A friend of mine caught a windshield early saturday AM last weekend. A driver's DUI lefty and we had right of way. I still can't believe it but he ended up walking away from it. A bit stiff the next morning. He says he never saw it coming. Here's his bike ~

$4k worth of damage to the car on a report. His frame bowed like an arrow.

Godspeed on recovery Chen! Sorry you weren't as lucky as this friend of mine.
