I really like this Masi, but WTF is up with the cable hangers? I might think about one otherwise.

I like cable hangers. They make a frame more versatile. It looks like it has a pump peg as well.

Yeah, I see nothing wrong with that Masi at all. Even some Bareknuckles comes with cable stays - are they going to be posted here, too?

This thread has officially entered its downward spiral. Gone are the posts of truly absurd monstrosities. They have been replaced by the "I don't like this one so it's clearly jackass" posts. Bummer.

Nah, it's always been like this. I haven't been here since it's conception, but I have read every post. Ebbs and flows is all.

I truly don't get the purpose of this thread. Just because a bike looks absurd to some people doesn't mean that it is. Is a person really expected to build a bike that visually appeals to the majority of forum members regardless of whether it suits his/her purpose and is comfortable? Wouldn't that make the person a poseur?

I usually only comment on the ones that are patently dangerous or are set up in a way that is incompatible with the human body. If you read back through, there are plenty of people that defend bikes that are simply ugly.

No, I suppose they should not. Yes, that would make that person a poseur...

but think of it as a study in human/bike relations. Some people set their bikes up funny, others find that funny. We come together to discuss here. Not much purpose other than that, really.

You should know that none (almost) of the bikes in this thread were built with any of us in mind. So don't worry, no ones posing.

I don't think so, but I'm not entirely sure. The problems associated with knees, from a fg standpoint, are the kind of problems that are additive. You don't just one day go, oh crap, my knees! Sure youngsters can bounce back better than older people, but I don't think this is one of those times. Also, I think you might be drawing correlations between muscles and cartilage/bone that are not valid. Muscles get stronger by rebuilding themselves better, but I think cartilage does not?

i still refuse to believe anything anyone on a forum tells me about fixed gears ruining knees.
my knees give me more problems on days i don't ride than days i do.
the inability to coast must build more muscles in the leg, and i would reckon a stronger leg would be less prone to injury.

regardless of anything, go talk to some runners about knee damage instead.

Upon the advice of several orthopedic surgeons I started riding bikes as more than just a recreational vehicle when I was still in my teens to help strengthen my knees which were damaged from skiing. I began riding a fixie in the early 80's and still do... my knees don't seem to mind. Maybe I'm just lucky.

FWIW, cartilage does not grow back or repair itself. I tore my meniscus when I wrestled and I had to have it scoped. My right knee now misses a piece of it.

I'm not one to impose my views on others. I don't tell brakeless fixie riders that they're stupid for not having brakes. But I do have to laugh when they wax poetically about heightened awareness, seeing 4 blocks ahead and aniticipting the flow of traffic. But unless attaining clairvoyant powers is a benefit of going brakeless and I can prophesize when an idiot is about to pull out of the blind drive ahead and into traffic, I think I'll stick with having a front brake so that I can stop in as short a distance as possible.

A supposedly unlimited budget and he goes with the poor mans crank, brake setup and what has to be the stupidest quill stem ever. At least he used a Brooks saddle.

Bravo on the **** up
