Well? What are you waiting for?

Find out how much the fellow figures on screwing you for it. With lines like "entertaining serious offers and trades," you bet he's looking for a sucker.

It really is a PX-10, and does not look bad at all.

Nervex lug model in a small size, would do well on ebay on it's way to Japan.

Offer $50. If the frame's straight I think It would be a deal.

Hmmm, my size too!
Doesn't look bad to me either. Start low, (<$50) and see if he'll bite.

If you do get it, if you don't have use for that Mafac steerer tube hanger, send it my way, and I'll pay you for the 1st class postage. I lost mine and can't seem to locate it in any of my numerous parts bins.

It really is a PX10. Pre '73. It doesn't look so bad to me. Go get it! I've just discoverd tha Dupi-Color wheel paint is a real close match to that Peugeot white.

Seems the listing has been removed (but the link still works) and emails bounce back.

Oh well

Straight from the horse's as...uh - mouth:

From ****@comcast.net

I was expecting a few offers on the posting and received many at $35, so I've decided to just run it up on ebay. Thank you.
Fishing. Anyone care to have his email address to send some notes of displeasure?

No. It looks like a stripped-down a thrift-store find. Likely fishing to find out how much he could sell it for.

-Kurt

P.S.: Either way, I figure I'll yank him around a bit - just offered one of my partial Raleigh + Campagnolo builds in trade

What is funnier is that he's wise to this thread and the posts

He could damn well have saved himself the wrath of the forum had he tried selling it in an upstanding, honest fashion - but that would be too easy, eh?

I'd like to see him get away with this on the CR list.

Fished around on price, or sold it honestly? I only do the latter - if I need to find out a price, I go to the known resources (eBay, forums), and if there are no comparable auctions, I price as such. If I can't find the price and condition is poor, I price it for what it is - a beat frameset of a decent bike.

Given that he'd likely get $200 on eBay for that frame, I don't see a problem ignoring those low-ball offers.

Problem I have with it is that he isn't about to admit that he simply wishes to get more for the frame.

No...he has to fib about what he intends to do to it in response to everybody who sees his Craigslist ad.

I believe I know that seller, and I would not deal with him. If it's who I think it is, he's fishing, just like Kurt says. He has no real idea of the value of that bike, just wants something above top dollar for it.

This is not the first time he has done this (used CL to fish), nor will it be the last in all likelihood. Given the local bike market, sometimes he can get well above ebay prices w/o the hassle of shipping.

Tread carefully on this one.

On the other hand, I have an earlier PX in far, far, better shape. So I don't need this one.
