The bike looks like its in such poor shape, but i cant seem to resist it if it really is a px-10

Offer $50. If the frame's straight I think It would be a deal.

Hmmm, my size too!
Doesn't look bad to me either. Start low, (<$50) and see if he'll bite.
If you do get it, if you don't have use for that Mafac steerer tube hanger, send it my way, and I'll pay you for the 1st class postage. I lost mine and can't seem to locate it in any of my numerous parts bins.

It really is a PX10. Pre '73. It doesn't look so bad to me. Go get it! I've just discoverd tha Dupi-Color wheel paint is a real close match to that Peugeot white.

Hmmmm, Let's see, I have a UO-8 with alloy rims in the basement. Richmond is about a 3.5 hour drive, gas is $3.60 a gallon, hmmmmm.

Seems the listing has been removed (but the link still works) and emails bounce back.

No. It looks like a stripped-down a thrift-store find. Likely fishing to find out how much he could sell it for.
-Kurt
P.S.: Either way, I figure I'll yank him around a bit - just offered one of my partial Raleigh + Campagnolo builds in trade

Fished around on price, or sold it honestly? I only do the latter - if I need to find out a price, I go to the known resources (eBay, forums), and if there are no comparable auctions, I price as such. If I can't find the price and condition is poor, I price it for what it is - a beat frameset of a decent bike.

Given that he'd likely get $200 on eBay for that frame, I don't see a problem ignoring those low-ball offers.

No...he has to fib about what he intends to do to it in response to everybody who sees his Craigslist ad.

This is not the first time he has done this (used CL to fish), nor will it be the last in all likelihood. Given the local bike market, sometimes he can get well above ebay prices w/o the hassle of shipping.
Tread carefully on this one.
On the other hand, I have an earlier PX in far, far, better shape. So I don't need this one.
