Find a park and cyclocross in it. Ride off-cambers and practice turning on them.

Figure out which races you're gonna race now. Put them on a calendar.

No problem, just do 6 really hard efforts of 7-10 minutes each and you'll win!

My cure for this is Wednesday night group rides through the forest with some spirited efforts mixed in to keep me honest about my fitness.
And i'm gonna drag the trainer out of the basement soon... *sigh*

Gearing up the practice to hopefully try racing for the first time this year. I've only died a few times so far.

Going to! Finally starting to feel comfortable and smooth. Knocked 1:10 off my best time at the local course once I settled on a better gearing (SS), a more appropriate tire and learned that the drops are your friends.

Just practicing in the upper 80s yesterday was killing me.
@
50voltphantom I'm about to switch to your gear ratio 39/19 from an 18. Hoping it speeds things up a bit on the really twisty home course.

Yeah, 38/39 up front works well. I did all but one race using 38:19 last year and use the 39 for general riding during the week. Yeah, I know, one tooth, but 38:19 is soooo damn spinny if I'm on the street for any length of time, the 39 makes it bearable.

Well...i just put cyclocross tires on my commuter, and criss-crossed the local park lawn and baseball diamond for 10 minutes. Didn't even fall down lol.
Guess I'm ready for my first race this coming sunday now
