Cyclocross tires for MTB
Trying to find cyclocross tires to fit my 26" MTB wheels. Looking for Schawlbe Pro or similar with kevlar bead for light weight. Any ideas of bike shops in the Northern California area or online vendors who have them would be appreciated.

It is getting hard to find good tires in the 26" size. a lot of shops and manufacturers have abandoned that size for anything other than a basic tire...

There aren't really any "cyclocross" tires in 26", since cyclocross is rarely raced on bikes with 26" wheels.
You can still get some reasonable MTB tires in the size, like the Continental Mountain King, Race King, and Speed King, although some of those are getting harder to find.

I have a set of Shwalbe cx tires with folding bead tires. They are 26 x 1.35. I bought them from a UK site, maybe chain reaction. Got them for about 25 dollars each and they have performed pretty well. Several hundred miles with some easy single track and only one puncture. Good combination of supple and durable. The little knobbies are not great in crazy mud or pure pavement but I would recommend these.

UCI has a 33mm maximum and they check each bike... local community races it does not really matter..

was checking these out (on Biketiresdirect.com) last week while I was thinking about an old school rigid cheap MTB. a caveat, I was not looking for lots of traction for the mild trails I had in mind, thinking more about flotation
