I assembled my fixed gear about a year ago and put 3700 enjoyable miles on it. The bike was based on a 1990's Cesare track bike that I modified for street use and to memorialize my son. Unfortunately it became a lot worse for wear. The frame started to rust due to poor power coating and the polished aluminum became dull and pitted.
I sent the frame back to the coater and he stripped it then gave it a three coat job in the same color. It looks much better. I took all of the aluminum and re-polished until it looked nice then sent it our for clear anodizing. These parts came back looking like crap. I polished them, but there there were still little pits that came back black. I went and power sanded all of the aluminum with 220 grit until all of the pits were removed, then re-polished back to a mirror finish. This was a lot of work. but they came out nice. Uniform silver color with no pits and they should resist corrosion.
I spent the weekend reassembling the bike with new bearings and cables. Although it looks no different from the first time I built it, I think it looks great. It was raining heavy last night so I could not take it for a ride. I can't wait to take it to work this morning.

^^^ Great job ! I'm sure you get a lot of satisfaction from all the effort you put into that bike. Your son would be very proud of you.

I would agree based on looks, although it doesnt feel bad to ride. I'm looking to get a more "serious" FG bike shortly which will be more of a longer ride bike while this one will go back to being a beater. I flip flop between risers or the drops depending on where i'm gonna be riding.
Yep, from PO -- It was a $140 Bianchi frame with crank so I could care less about a ding!

"Rack up the road miles" sounds about right. That's my plan through the spring.
The logo delete SRAM levers are something I really enjoy.
That's enough.

Yes, Wabi Sub 15. I had to use the Wabi dropout protectors because the Bianchi Pista has stamped dropouts, only about 6mm thick. The wheel fasteners are designed for 8mm or 9mm thick dropouts and wouldn't grip when tightened all the way.

I came back here after years of inactivity because I'm planning a fixed gear road build for this summer, and this is inspiring. Currently thinking a Wabi Classic with the Sub 15s, some road drops, and maybe stiffer cranks and brakes (silver D/A would definitely do it). This one pretty much checks all the boxes.

Wow, very glad I asked for details, looks like a great build (with all the comfort of the SRAM hood shape!).
