FANY Ride Day 5-Woodstock!

Another perfect day to ride 78 miles with 4800’ of hills from Averill Park to Woodstock. Mostly rural but we did go through traffic in Hudson and Catskill. I missed a turn in Hudson but thanks to Google maps I got back on route.

We stopped by Martin Van Buren’s house. I think he’s the grandfather of the Democratic Party long with being the 8th President.

I was excited to ride Rt 20 for a very short ways. Rt 20 was the highway I rode coast to coast in 2016.

We rode across the Hudson on the Rip Van Winkle Bridge. See distance photo below.

I met met my wife at an abandoned house along the route at about 60 miles. There were abundant signs saying no trespassing. We’d been there about 5 minutes when the owner pulled in. We thought we were in trouble! It turns out the couple had a 1967 GTO stored in the garage. They had just purchased it for the wife’s 70h Birthday on Monday. They were excited to show it to us and were happy to pose for a photo!

Woodstock is busy! We are staying in Hotel Dylan and all the rooms are named after one of the musicians at Woodstock. We are in the Cocker room which perfect since we share the same first name. There are working turntables in every room.

Just one more day of riding!

Nice! In England fanny is slang for the female reproductive organ.

Remarkable that your x-country was 3 years ago. We all had a terrific time following, as we are currently.

So cool to see this. The mountains in the distance, I tell people here in NC that that is something I miss about NY and there they are. Thank you for sharing your trip.
Frank.

I grew up in Kauneonga Lake, NY, in the summers on my family's lakefront property, in the Town Of Bethel, three miles away from the Woodstock Festival Site. I went there as a near seventeen year old, eyes and ears wide open to the 'happening'. A once in a lifetime experience. Here's an original poster.

And stocked with albums unless you brought your own Moody Blues. Looks like a great trip.
