Gday from Albury in Oz

Hi. I’m Tim. Got a few bikes. And some projects. Love to ride but don’t get to do it near enough.

ive got a couple of questions for the classic and vintage experts but might rattle on here for a bit if that’s ok.

The handle ‘Mockafan’ comes from a bloke called Russell Mockridge who was a great of Aussie bike racing. He died tragically when hit by a bus in a race in 1958.

One of my (really belongs to the missus) bikes is a 1935 Malvern Star delivery bike with a rack for a wide flat basket. It’s kind of the mascot for a little sourdough bread business that we have called “The Bicycle Baker”. The bike is called ‘Crusty’.

Another favourite is a circa 1960 nerved lugged Aussie road bike. Campag Gran sport derailleurs, magistroni cottered cranks. It came with all sorts of dodgy paint on it and I haven’t yet found a maker but it has been restored and is fun to ride. Except up long steep hills.

Better up hills is a Ciombola. Dedaccai EOM 16.5 tubing. Roughly 2002. A small Australian builder. Campag 9 (?) speed running gear. I’ve retrofitted a quill stem and chrome fork.

Also great up hills AND down the other side is a Lapierre 827 carbon dually. Converted me to both carbon and dual suspension all at once. Also like the dropper seat post. Love riding this bike. There’s plenty of mountain biking around here too.
