Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Kona Paddy Wagon and a Question

got a 2009 Kona Paddy Wagon 2 days ago...very happy with it...was looking at the SE Lager and the Redline 925...test rode it and automatically fell in love with it...purchase made...any reviews on it or any comments...here is the question...never rode a fixed bike before...switched the rear wheel around to make it fixed and knoticed almost a jump every now and then...everything seemed to be lined up and nice and tight like a normal bike should be...could there be a kind in the chain maybe or what i figured it may be is just me not pedaling correctly and wanting to slow down then i lock it up for a split moment with my legs...anyone ever knowtice this when they began riding fixed???

maybe your cog is slipping - not tight enough. get it tightened before you strip the threads on your hub.

Maybe a stiff link in the chain? I've got an 07 Paddy. Good bikes, I really like mine.

I second the suggestion to make sure you get your lockring tightened. There's a decent chance that it wasn't double checked at the shop, esp. if you bought it set up on the freewheel side.

I too just bought a Paddy Wagon, and I really like it. A little minor tweaking aside, its a good bike.
